Do you love Jesus? Do you have a passion for playing your violin, viola, cello, or bass? Can you read music? If you answered yes, then Zion's Youth Orchestra is for you! We now offer two different orchestra experiences.

Orchestras:
Zion’s Youth Preparatory Orchestra is for string players that have a minimum of two years playing experience and are playing at a minimum Suzuki Book 2 pieces. This orchestra is also for students that have never played in an orchestra and have at least some music reading ability. It is preferred that students have a private teacher to provide independent support, but is not mandatory for participation. No audition is required to join this orchestra.

Zion’s Youth Orchestra is for string players that have been playing for a few years, have orchestra playing experience and can sight-read fairly well. Most of these students should be playing from Suzuki book 3 or higher. This orchestra will be used primarily to accompany the Zion’s Youth Choir. Private lessons are preferred but not required.

Music:
We plan on preparing and performing sacred music, sacred contemporary, Christian pop, Classical inspirational, and music from the classical repertoire. We have two composers and arrangers on the staff who are excited to create some incredible music for us that will give us our own unique sound! It is also our future intention to invite well-known guest musicians/soloists to perform on our concerts accompanied by Zion’s Youth Orchestra.

Rehearsal Location and Time:
With the exception to some holidays, orchestra rehearsals will take place weekly on Mondays at 1015 N. Emerald Drive, Layton Utah. The preparatory orchestra will meet from 4 to 4:50 and Zion’s Youth Orchestra will rehearse from 4 to 5:50 pm. You will need to bring your own music stand and if possible, a metal music stand as wire stands tip over easily and can cause damage to instruments.

Tuition:
Tuition is $60 per month. If needed, we’re offering the following ways to help you pay for tuition:

  1. Sibling Discount:Each additional sibling will be 40% off the highest paying sibling. This discount is organization wide. So, if you have a sibling in the choir they will get 40% off as well.
  2. Fundraising: In just a few hours we can help you pay off six months of tuition.
  3. REFERRAL DISCOUNT: The success of this choir and orchestra will greatly depend on its’ size. To thank you for inviting friends to join us, your discount will be in the amount of money you bring in from the first month of referrals. (Please see our FAQ section for examples.)

Performance Schedule:
Our Christmas performance will be on December 7th at the Ogden Tabernacle. We hope to see you there!
